Which products do I actually need?
A cleanser, a moisturiser and a sunscreen cover the basics for almost everyone. A serum is the step you add for a specific concern, such as vitamin C for dullness or niacinamide for oily, blemish-prone skin. More products is not better skin: a short routine used every day does more than a long one used now and then.
In what order do I apply them?
From the thinnest texture to the thickest: cleanser, then serum or treatment, then moisturiser. In the morning sunscreen goes on last. Give each layer a minute to settle before the next one.
Can I use retinol and vitamin C together?
Most people use vitamin C in the morning and retinol at night rather than layering them. Start any new active slowly, a few evenings a week, and wear sunscreen every day while you use retinol. If your skin stings or peels, space the applications out.
How long before I see a difference?
Hydration is felt within days. Changes to texture, blemishes or dark spots usually take four to eight weeks of daily use, because that is roughly how long skin takes to renew. Patch-test a new product on a small area first if your skin reacts easily.
